General Information

The TU Spirit Squad consists of:

  • Coed-Cheerleading Team
  • Pom Team
  • Captain Cane (Mascot)
Game and Event Attendance
The TU Spirit Squad attends all home football games, women's home basketball games, men's home basketball games, as well as selected out-of-state football games, basketball games, and post-season tournament games and bowl games. In addition to this, they attend various other athletic and TU related events. The Spirit Squads perform at a variety of events, such as corporate and charity events. Spirit Squad members are cheerleaders, dancers, entertainers, and most importantly, ambassadors for the University of Tulsa!

Practice and Workouts
The TU Spirit Squad trains a minimum of three times weekly. Practices are held on campus in the spirit room located in the Mabee Gym, at Chapman Stadium on the football field and in the Donald W Reynolds center on the basketball court. Additional fitness training is also required a minimum of three times a week. Fitness training is held on campus in the spirit room, in addition to other on-campus sites.

Academic Requirements
The University of Tulsa Athletic Department supports and directs the spirit squads and Mascot. As student support programs in the athletic department the Spirit Squad adheres to the role and mission of The University of Tulsa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The TU Spirit Squad Members are considered part of the Athletic Department family and follow NCAA rules for eligibility to participate in collegiate sports. All members must maintain a 2.0 or above and carry a minimum of (12) credits. All members of the Spirit Squad are required to go to study hall every week.

Tryout Forms

**Tryout dates are Feb. 26-28, 2010, and will be held on the University of Tulsa campus in the Spirit Room of Mabee Gymnasium**
Feb. 26 - Registration begins at 4:30 p.m., and the clinic runs from 5-8 p.m.
Feb. 27 - 8-11 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.
Feb. 28 - Tryouts start promptly at 8 a.m.
