Student-Athlete of the Week Week of January 1-7 Senior Tiffani Couisnard (Women’s Basketball) has a 3.72 GPA in psychology. Couisnard, a native of Houston, averaged 11 points and 12 rebounds last week as the Golden Hurricane opened up Conference USA play. Against UTEP last Wednesday, Couisnard tallied 14 points and seven rebounds as TU fell to UTEP 71-64. Against Rice on Sunday, Couisnard recorded a career-high 17 rebounds in front of a hometown crowd. She also chipped in eight points, four steals and two blocks. Last Week’s Results MEN’S BASKETBALL (10-7, 2-1 C-USA) Lost to Marshall 79-61 (Shaquille Harrison, Rashad Ray and James Woodard all scored in double figures, but Tulsa fell at Conference USA foe Marshall, 79-61, Wednesday evening. Harrison and Woodard each scored 12 points, while Ray tallied 11 points to lead the Golden Hurricane. Harrison chipped in five assists and three steals, while Kauri Black picked up five steals for TU.) Took Down Rice 64-51 (Tulsa outscored the Rice Owls by 20 points in the second half to capture a 64-51 victory on Sunday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Freshman guard Shaquille Harrison scored 12 of his game-high 14 points in the second half, while also leading the Hurricane with eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Junior Pat Swilling, Jr. finished the game with 12 points and four rebounds, while senior Kauri Black had 10 points and six rebounds. The Hurricane out-rebounded the Owls 36 to 21 and finished the game shooting 52.8-percent from the field.) WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (5-10, 0-2 C-USA) Fell to UTEP 71-64 (Tulsa had three players score in double digits, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Hurricane dropped a 71-64 decision to UTEP on Wednesday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Taleya Mayberry had a team-leading 21 points, five assists and a block in 34 minutes on the court. Tiffani Couisnard and Kadan Brady each added 14 points, while Loren McDaniel pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Jessica McQuin picked up two steals in the contest.)
