TU HOSTS OKLAHOMA BLOOD INSTITUTE'S "GOLDEN HURRICANE BLOOD DRIVE" THIS WEEK

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa will host a Golden Hurricane Blood Drive with Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI), Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 25 - 27. The drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in the Choteau Room of the Allen Chapman Activity Center (ACAC).
"Without a doubt, we're thrilled to partner in the Golden Hurricane Blood Drive," said OBI President and CEO John Armitage, M.D. "We fully expect this year to set the gold standard of blood donation on TU's campus."
The public is invited to join students, faculty and staff in giving blood to help patients in our community. Each donor will receive an OBI "FEEL GOLDEN" T-shirt.
"The University of Tulsa is proud to support OBI and the Golden Hurricane Blood Drive," said Dr. Derrick Gragg, The University of Tulsa Vice President & Director of Athletics. "Our students understand the need for this effort and will hopefully respond in great numbers." Every two seconds, someone needs blood. Donors with OBI provide every drop of blood needed by patients in more than 140 medical facilities across Oklahoma. This includes 27 medical facilities in Tulsa and northeast Oklahoma.
Typically, those who are generally healthy and age 16* or older are eligible to donate blood every 56 days. Appointments are not required, but can be made at obi.org or 877-340-8777. * 16 year olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission, 17 year olds must weigh at least 125 pounds, 18+ year olds must weigh at least 110 pounds.
