Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa student-athletes participated in Mayo Demonstration School's "Cat in the Hat" Assembly on Friday as part of the Read Across America program, continuing TU's many community service projects in which student-athletes participate.

TU student-athletes volunteer their time each year in the Read Across America program through the National Education Association. This year, athletes from the football, women's basketball and men's basketball teams participated in reading "A Cat in the Hat".

The TU participants joined Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard in reading the story to the Mayo students. Dr. Ballard and freshman women's basketball player Liesl Spoerl read to the entire assembly of students, while other TU student-athletes read the book in individual classrooms following the all-student assembly.
