Irving, Texas - The University of Tulsa had 188 student-athletes earn recognition to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2011-12 academic year, C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. Student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. A record 2,433 student-athletes from Conference USA schools were recognized with the Commissioner's Award this year.

For the Golden Hurricane, football had 36 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's list, while the rowing team led Tulsa's women's teams with 32 student-athletes with a 3.0+ GPA. Football and Rowing are also the two sports that have the most student-athletes participating at Tulsa. Following the football and rowing teams are: Men's Track & Field (31), Women's Track & Field (19), women's soccer (17), men's soccer (14), softball (8), volleyball (8), men's golf (6), women's golf (5), women's tennis (5), men's tennis (3), men's basketball (2) and women's basketball (2).

Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner's Academic Medal. Those winners will be released tomorrow.
