Three Tulsa Teams Earn Conference USA Sport Academic Awards

Irving, Texas - Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today the Sport Academic Awards, which are given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year. The University of Tulsa had three teams among the award winners.
Golden Hurricane teams honored were women's soccer (3.5 GPA), men's tennis (3.44 GPA) and women's track and field (3.48 GPA).
Rice University earned the Conference USA Institutional Excellence Award for 2012-13. The Institutional Excellence Award is given to the C-USA institution with the highest grade point average during the 2012-13 academic year for all student-athletes in conference-sponsored sports. Rice student-athletes combined for an annual GPA of 3.137.
Memphis produced four different teams with the highest GPA for their respective sports, while Rice and Tulsa had three apiece. UCF repeated as Sport Academic winner for football and became the first school in C-USA history to register a 3.0 or better in the sport.
Ten teams were repeat winners from a season ago. The following is a list of all the Sports Academic award honorees:
