Oct. 3, 2012
Tulsa, Oklahoma -
As part of Conference USA's Let's SAAC Hunger program, TU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (TUSAAC) will be collecting canned food donations during the week of October 8 - 12. In support of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, non-perishable, canned foods may be dropped off at all home athletic competitions throughout the week. TU students, alumni and friends are encouraged to participate.
Monday, October 8 - TU/Nebraska-Omaha Men's Soccer Game (7:00 p.m. - Hurricane Stadium)
Thursday, October 11 - TU/UTEP Football Game*
Friday, October 12 - TU/UTEP Volleyball Match (7:00 p.m. - Reynolds Center)
*Donations brought to the football game on Thursday evening may be dropped off at the Golden Hurricane Club tent on Chapman Commons from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
All C-USA member institutions are working within their respective communities to conduct a campus-wide canned food drive, with the school tallying the most food by weight receiving the coveted C-USA SAAC Cup. Last year's champion, Houston, collected more than 22,000 pounds of food, while eight schools collected more than 2,000 pounds during their drive.
Let's SAAC Hunger is just one of many community service projects that allow TU student-athletes to give back to the greater Tulsa community in a positive and influential way.
