Sophomore Samantha Vickers (Women's Tennis) has maintained a 4.00 grade-point average in arts and sciences, undeclared. The Lincolnshire, England, native won the 2011 USTA/ITA Women's Singles Central Region Championship this past week. She won six matches in four days, including a 6-1, 6-2 victory over No. 65 Sonja Molnar of Iowa in the championship match. Vickers, the No. 89-ranked singles player in the nation, is now entered in the 32-player field for the 2011 USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships Nov. 3-6 in Flushing, New York.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (0-0, 0-0 C-USA)
Defeated Southwest Baptist 92-73
(Sophomore point guard Jordan Clarkson led Tulsa with 23 points, and senior forward Steven Idlet added 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting in the team's exhibition opener. Senior forward Joe Richard added eight points and nine rebounds, while sophomore forward Kodi Maduka and junior guard Scottie Haralson each contributed nine points. The Golden Hurricane opened the exhibition season with a solid performance over the visiting team from Southwest Baptist. TU shot 48 percent from the field and made 32 free throws.)

FOOTBALL (5-3, 4-0 C-USA)
Defeated SMU 38-7
(Tulsa snapped a two-game losing skid to the Mustangs with a dominant performance at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Homecoming. Junior running back Alex Singleton scored a career-high three rushing touchdowns, while senior cornerback Milton Howell recorded a career-high three interceptions. Senior quarterback G.J. Kinne completed 24 of 36 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown. Junior H-back Willie Carter recorded career highs in catches (13) and receiving yards (173), while adding a receiving TD.)

MEN'S SOCCER (5-11, 1-6 C-USA)
Lost at Marshall 2-1 (2ot)
(Tulsa allowed a goal with 2:19 to play in the second overtime to fall at Marshall. Freshman forward Tom Gaus scored his first-collegiate goal off an assist from freshman striker Stephen Roberson to equalize in the 53rd minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Murray saved five shots and allowed both goals in 107:41 of action.)

WOMEN'S SOCCER (10-7-3, 4-5-2 C-USA)
Lost to SMU 2-1
(Junior defender Claire Hulcer recorded her sixth goal of the year in the 21st minute, but the Golden Hurricane fell behind 2-0 early and could never find the equalizer in the home finale. Junior goalkeeper Katie Bykowski played the first 19:19 in net for TU, and she allowed two goals and saved one shot. Sophomore goalkeeper Hayley Harryman played the final 70:41 and saved her lone shot attempt. Tulsa outshot SMU 10-7 and both teams attempted two corner kicks. Tulsa qualified for the Conference USA Championship for the first time since 2005, the school's first year in the league.)

MEN'S TENNIS
Competed at the 2011 USTA/ITA Central Region Championship
(Senior Ashley Watling and junior Clifford Marsland won the men's doubles championship and automatically qualified for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships. They defeated two top-25 teams, including the No. 13 duo from Nebraska of Benedikt Lindheim and Christopher Aumueller in the title match. The pair became the fourth Tulsa doubles team to win the central region championship.)

WOMEN'S TENNIS

(Sophomore Samantha Vickers won the women's singles championship and automatically qualified for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships. She won six matches in four days, including a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over No. 65 Sonja Molnar of Iowa in the title match. She became the fourth Tulsa player to claim the central region singles crown.)

VOLLEYBALL (21-5, 12-1 C-USA)
Defeated Memphis 3-0 (25-19, 29-27, 25-19)
(TU got a scare in the second set from Memphis, but the home squad was able to dispatch the Tigers in straight sets. Junior outside hitter Diana Silva and sophomore outside hitter Kellie Culbertson led Tulsa with nine kills each. Junior setter Jordan Clampitt dished out 26 assists, while little sister Bailey Clampitt added 12 dimes. Junior libero Jessica Adams recorded 13 digs, and Tulsa outhit Memphis .337 to .279.)

Defeated UAB 3-1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-17, 25-20) (Tulsa dropped its first set in nine matches, but the streaking Golden Hurricane was still too much for the visiting Blazers. Junior outside hitter Tyler Henderson led the way with 19 kills and a .308 hitting percentage, while Silva (14 kills, 12 digs) and Culbertson (12 kills, 10 digs) both recorded double-doubles. The Clampitt's dished out a combined 62 assists, while Adams recorded 26 digs.)
