Class of 1997
His open field running led Tulsa to a combined 18-4-2 record from 1932-34 with victories over Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma A&M. It was common for his football exploits to be described as ?he darted and dodged through the entire team on a 55-yard punt return? or ?squirmed loose to dodge other would-be tacklers and finally sprinted over the goal line.? Scored eight touchdowns on runs averaging 23 yards in 1932, and in 1934, scored a team-high 36 points. Perhaps the best game of his career came against the Big Six Champions Kansas State when he returned a kick 55 yards for a touchdown and threw a 30-yard pass in a major upset.
