04/24/2012 Tulsa's Top Student-Athletes Recognized at Golden `Cane Awards GalaUltimate Team honors top TU student-athletes Class of 2007 A marvelous receiver who ranks number two in career receptions and receiving yards for the Hurricane, Dan Bitson had 163 receptions for 3,300 yards, 29 TDs, and an average of 20.2 yards per catch in his abbreviated career. He had 17 games in which he had l00 yards or more in receiving yards. He had three games with over 200 receiving yards, including 238 vs. Bowling Green (1989), 237 vs. Colorado State (1988) and 235 vs. Iowa (1989). He was a second-team All-America by The Sporting News in 1988 and second-team All-America by Associated Press in 1989. Bitson's career was stalled by a tragic automobile accident prior to the Independence Bowl game in l989, but he returned to play on the 1991 Freedom Bowl Team. |
