An outstanding halfback who played both offense and defense for the Golden Hurricane. Was noted for his ferocious tackling and blocking skills in college and in professional football. Was selected to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team in 1945 and `46. Was twice voted as the team's outstanding blocking and tackling back. Was also an outstanding punter who averaged 38 yards per punt over three seasons. Led Tulsa to a 22-9 record in his three seasons, including the 8-3 team that played in the 1945 Oil Bowl.
