One of many Americans whose collegiate playing career was interrupted by World War II, he was a talented and aggressive center whose blocking and tackling skills were quite evident. The 6'6" "giant" played on the 1942 Sugar Bowl team before departing for the war. Returned to the Golden Hurricane for the 1946 season after serving in the Army Air Force for 41 months. Was an assistant football coach at Tulsa for seven years beginning in 1949. Served as the baseball coach for three seasons, compiling a 28-27 record. Was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus by The University of Tulsa in 1973.
