Class of 1987 An outstanding quarterback who was both an elusive runner and superb passer in the 1947 and `48 seasons. Was the nation's second-leading passer in 1948, completing 53 percent of his passes for 1,363 yards and seven touchdowns. An 83-yard run against West Texas in 1947 was the third longest in Hurricane history. Threw for 2,796 yards and 18 touchdowns during his career. Was twice selected to the All-Missouri Valley Conference team in 1947 and `48. Played professionally with the Pittsburgh Steelers for five years and later became a successful general manager for the Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints. |
