A tennis star, was the No. 1 singles player at Tulsa for three years and captained the only undefeated team (1954) in school history. He won 44 out of 49 collegiate tennis matches. Over the years, he also won 30 Tulsa City Championships in singles and doubles, won 24 Oklahoma State Championships, 19 Missouri Valley Sectional Championships and won the 1996 National Seniors title and finished as runner-up twice.
