AJ Harrison is in his first year as the Media Relations Assistant for the University of Tulsa serving as the primary contact for volleyball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field programs.
Harrison arrives at TU from Drake University, where he was an athletic communications student assistant from 2009-2012.
While at Drake, Harrison served as the primary contact for track and field and cross country along with assisting in coverage of the Bulldogs 18 sports. He also served as the contact for men's golf in 2011 and the interim women's basketball contact for a month during the 2012 campaign. Harrison played a key role in many of the Bulldogs' social media efforts including starting a live blog during the 2011-12 men's basketball season.
Harrison was an important member of the Drake Relays staff where he served a variety of different roles. He was the assistant mixed zone coordinator and the assistant press box coordinator in 2010 and 2011, respectively. In 2012, Harrison was the press box coordinator where he constructed the media supplement for the four day event and led social media efforts.
He has also worked as a media volunteer at 2011 and 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds in Tulsa and Omaha, Neb., respectively and the 2012 NCAA Des Moines Women's Regional.
Harrison gained valuable experience as the sports director for Drake's student radio station, 94 1 The Dog, from 2010-2012.
A native of Madison, Wis., Harrison graduated from Drake with a bachelor degree in journalism in 2012.
