Known as the "Rubberband Man" to Tulsa fans, he helped bring national recognition and the 1981 NIT Championship to The University of Tulsa. Was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Year after averaging 10.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in 1980-81. Led the nation in steals that year with 96. Earned All-America honors as a senior in the 1981-82 season. Was a two-time All-MVC first team performer. Named the MVC Player of the Year as a senior. Completed his collegiate career with 291 assists and 191 steals, leading Tulsa to a 50-13 record in two seasons. Went on to a successful career in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks.
