Was a superb first baseman who led Tulsa to three Missouri Valley Conference Championships and was a three-time All-MVC selection. As a freshman in 1971, he won the District 5 batting title with a .413 average, was voted MVP of the College World Series and earned a berth on the U.S.A team in the Pan American Games. Had a career .397 batting average with 191 hits, 127 runs scored, 36 doubles, 12 triples, 19 home runs and 144 RBI. Was an All-America selection as a senior in 1973 after hitting .401 in 54 games. Went on to play professionally with the Chicago Cubs and Oakland Athletics.
