A unique way for recent TU grads to make an impact and stay involved with Golden Hurricane Athletics.
Men's Basketball Locker Room Renovation
Estimated Total Project Cost: $2 Million
As we look towards the continued growth of our men's basketball program and the development of our student-athletes, we must ensure that we remain current with the latest facility enhancements associated with operating a first-class athletics program. Competitive pressures also are at work. On July 1, 2014, TU Athletics began a new era with our entry into the American Athletic Conference, arguably the most prestigious and competitive conference that TU has been affiliated, which has spurred us to continue to make strategic investments to stay ahead of the game.
In today's intercollegiate athletics landscape, facilities are indeed a point of emphasis. To recruit and develop the best student-athletes, facilities are a tangible representation of the commitment and investment from our university and atheltics department leadership - as well as stakeholders - to provide the resources necessary for our student-athletes to compete at the highest level and win championships. The renovation of the current men's basketball locker room facility will provide a showcase for Coach Haith and his staff to recruit and best and brightest student-athletes to TU, complementing our world-class academic experience.
Other than cosmetic changes that have occurred over the past 17 years, the men's basketball locker room at the Donald W. Reynolds Center is basically the same as when they were initially constructed in 1998. The proposed renovation will completely change the structure of the locker room and make it similar to peer programs in the American Athletic Conference. Along with an updated floor plan and the addition of a dedicated players' lounge, video room and coaches' locker room suite, we will also enhance the facility with the latest technology, graphics (digital and static) and security.
At a total cost of $2 million, this project will commence at the conclusion of the 2014-15 basketball season and will be completed in time for the start of the 2015-16 season. This plan will provide a completly renovated and re-imagined home for our men's basketball program and will cover every daily facility need of our players and coaches, resulting in a place where championship teams will come together.
