The Golden Hurricane Club, as the primary fundraising arm of TU Athletics, works to provide every TU student-athlete with the opportunity to realize a world-class athletic and academic experience. In order to achieve these goals, the Golden Hurricane Club actively solicits financial support from TU alumni and friends who share our passion.
As the cost of intercollegiate athletics continues to rise, the resources necessary to maintain a quality athletics program continue to escalate as well. For example, during the 2009-10 academic year, over $15 million of the TU Athletic Department's $24 million operating budget was designated to support the student-athlete experience. This includes student-athlete scholarships, equipment, uniforms, game travel, academic support, enrichment activities, student-athlete insurance, and much more.
The University of Tulsa is committed to the continued development of a broad-based athletics program - and that commitment is central to the Golden Hurricane Club's efforts. Its members are alumni, friends and advocates of the university who recognize the value of the intercollegiate athletic experience and enthusiastically participate in a variety of ways. By your membership in the Golden Hurricane Club, you have a direct and distinct impact on a student-athlete's athletic achievement, academic growth and personal development. Your support is vital and is an investment in the lives of the young men and women who represent TU with talent, determination and pride.

Golden Hurricane Club History
The Golden Hurricane Club has been the backbone of efforts to support the athletics program at The University of Tulsa since 1930, when it was founded by local business and community leaders in downtown Tulsa. Its original mission included funding uniforms for the marching band, securing a trained drum-major, organizing a cheer squad and selling football tickets. In 1976, the club was relocated to the TU campus and renamed the Tulsa Hurricane Club. Another name change occurred in 1987 when the club became known as it is today - the Golden Hurricane Club.
