Punt Pass and KickThe University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane Football Team held a Punt, Pass, & Kick event at Sequoyah Elementary School November 28, 2011. This event was designed to teach the fundamentals of punting, passing and kicking a football, as well as the teamwork needed to successfully play team sports. The TU student-athletes were able to promote an appreciation for the game and help the Sequoyah students develop important skills all while having a great time! The student-athletes that attended were: Malachi Blankenship, James Roberson, Thomas Roberson, Cody Green, Zac Epps, Brett Davis and Jacob Rader.
True Blue InitiativeThe Tulsa men's and women's soccer teams spent Wednesday afternoon at Kendall-Whittier Elementary School entertaining the students to help promote the True Blue Neighbors program. Every member of the school received a free "TU Fan: True Blue Neighbors" t-shirt that can be worn to any 2010 Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's or women's home regular season soccer contest for free admission.
Lunch BuddiesTulsa student-athletes visited Kendall-Whittier Elementary School on April 7, 2010, to take part in the Lunch Buddies program. Lunch Buddies gives student-athletes an opportunity to interact with elementary students and help them visualize life as a college student.
Shadow A Student-Athlete DayA group of Tulsa student-athletes hosted students from Wilson Middle School to introduce them to college and experience a day in the life of a student-athlete on March 31, 2010.
St. Francis HospitalThe Tulsa women's basketball team volunteered at Saint Francis Children's Hospital on Friday, April 23, 2010. The student-athletes played games with the patients and participated in games and arts and crafts.
St. Francis HospitalThe University of Tulsa football players visited the St. Francis Hospital children's ward. The TU student-athletes visited with the children, as well as participated in an arts and crafts painting project.
Martin Luther King Jr. ParadeEvery year Tulsa student-athletes participate in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade.
Parks Edge Nursing HomeThe Tulsa women's basketball team visited the Parks Edge Nursing Home in April 2008. The student-athletes visited with the members of the nursing home, and played Bingo with them.
Read Across America DayVarious Tulsa student-athletes helped Keystone Elementary participate in the national Read Across America Day. The student-athletes read to the different classrooms one of their favorite books.
TU DayTulsa student-athletes helped celebrate the Grand Opening of the St. Jude Dream Home. The visitors had the opportunity to tour the Dream Home, visit with TU student-athletes from various sports, as well as take pictures and get autographs. |
