Assistant positions for compliance, tickets, strength & conditioning and track have been filled
Taylor Gulley is in his third year as an assistant track & field/cross country coach for The University of Tulsa. Gulley assists with coaching the cross-country team, while also coaches the middle-distance and distance runners for the Hurricane track team.
With Gulley on the coaching staff, Tulsa has won three Conference USA Cross Country Championships in the last two seasons, winning back-to-back men's titles in 2012 and 2013 and tying for the C-USA women's crown in 2013.
In addition to the men's team winning the 2012 C-USA title, the Hurricane also placed seventh at the NCAA Championships that year, while producing All-American Chris O'Hare. On the women's side, the cross-country team finished fifth at the NCAA Midwest Regional, the second-best finish in school history.
In 2012, Tulsa had eight men's athletes earn all-conference honors, while seven women received all-Conference USA accolades as well.
For track & field, Tulsa had three indoor champions at the C-USA Championships on the women's side and four C-USA medalists on the men's side in 2012-13. Gulley also coached two C-USA outdoor individual champions for women and one for the men that same season.
Prior to his appointment as a full-time coach, Gulley spent two years as a student assistant coach with the Golden Hurricane team. He assisted in home meet management, generated and maintained the recruiting database and assisted with the set-up of official recruiting visits.
He also spent one year on the athletic facilities maintenance staff at Tulsa, where he worked with venue set-up for basketball, volleyball and soccer.
Gulley earned his bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science from Tulsa in May 2012.
