Since the opening of the Donald W. Reynolds Center in 1998, Tulsa’s athletic facilities have undergone a major facelift. New facilities include the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, the Collins Family Softball Complex, the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium, the J. Bird Sr. Shell Nest, the Jack Zink Indoor Rowing Center, the Case Athletic Complex and major renovation to H.A. Chapman Stadium.
TU is 75th among national doctoral universities in U. S. News & World Report's 2012 edition of America's Best Colleges. TU's 2011 freshman class had a mean cumulative grade point average of 3.8, and 74 percent graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school classes. Their average ACT was 28.
The Golden Hurricane Club, as the primary fundraising arm of TU Athletics, works to provide every TU student-athlete with the opportunity to realize a world-class athletic and academic experience.
2011-12: (Indoor) Competed in two meets . . . finished 12th at the C-USA Championship in the 5,000m in 15:15.04 . . . placed 21st at the league meet in the 3K in 8:47.25 . . . also finished 30th at the Tyson Invitational in the 3,000m with a time of 8:44.34 . . . (Outdoor) Placed seventh in the 5,000m run at the Conference USA Championship with a mark of 14:37.67 . . . also finished 10th in the 10K at the league meet in 31:51.46 . . . recorded a career-best time in the 3,000m of 8:37.26 at the Arkansas Spring Invitational to finish seventh.
2010-11: (Indoor) Saw action in four races . . . placed sixth in the 5,000m at the Conference USA Championship in a personal-best time of 14:45.89 . . . ran a personal best in the 3,000m at the league meet (8:39.76) . . . posted a mile of 4:26.70 and finished fifth at the J.D. Martin Invitational . . . (Outdoor) Competed in six races, which included running the 10,000m at the NCAA West Preliminary . . . posted the third-fastest 10K in school history at the Mt. SAC Relays (29:56.68) . . . was named to the all-C-USA Third Team after placing third in the 5,000m at the Conference USA Championship (14:26.45) . . . also finished fifth in the 10,000m at the league meet with a mark of 31:35.02 . . . ran a personal-best in the 5,000m of 14:16.13 at the Drake Relays to finish eighth . . . won the 3,000m at the Tulsa Duels with a personal-record of 8:41:17.
2009-10: (Indoor) Competed at the Wichita State Invitational and finished sixth with a time of 4:28.33 . . . (Outdoor) Finished second in the 10,000 meters at the C-USA Championships with a time of 31:31.03 and was named to the all-C-USA Second Team.
2008-09: (Indoor) Ran in five meets . . . finished the mile-run in 4:27.45 at the Missouri Southern Radio Shack Invitational . . . clocked a time of 9:03.34 in the 3,000m at the Razorback Invitational . . . posted a season-best mark of 15:30.79 in the 5,000m at the Tyson Invitational . . . (Outdoor) Participated in six meets . . . finished seventh in the 10,000m (32:05.09) at the C-USA Championships . . . ran the 5,000m in 15:17.64 at the John McDonnell Invitational . . . posted a season-best time of 4:10.94 in the 1,500m at the Tulsa Invitational . . . an Athletic Director's Honor Roll and C-USA All-Academic honoree.
High School: A four-time letterwinner in track and field and cross country at Broken Arrow High School . . . named all-state three times in cross country . . . finished fourth at the state cross country meet as a senior . . . . ran the 5K course at the Missouri Southern cross country meet in 15:40 . . . state medalist in the 1600m as a junior with a time of 4:24.
Personal: Majoring in psychology . . . was one of his senior class' valedictorians . . . member of the National Honor Society . . . son of Michael and Cathy Johnson . . . has four siblings.
