FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Tulsa track and field teams posted eight personal bests on the first day of the Tyson Invitational Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Complex.
Three of the eight PR's were set by seniors in the men's mile run, headlined by Paulo Pinheiro finishing third in 4:05.13. Bill Martin placed ninth in 4:10.28 and Carl Stones was 11th in 4:10.79. Junior Geraint Davies also competed in the event, finishing 18th in 4:16.88.
Senior Justin Smith finished 33rd in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 48.75.
Tulsa's Distance Medley Relay team finished second in 10:01.54. The team consisted of senior Tom Marshall, junior Julian Frazier, sophomore Danny Thater and freshman Nathan Barrett.
Two PR's were set on the women's side in the mile. Junior Erin Huddleston finished third in the event with a mark of 4:59.71. Fellow junior Ashley Scott was sixth in 5:01.44, and freshman Natasha Cockram posted a career-best mark of 5:02.25 to finish eighth.
Senior Racquell Powell finished 36th in the 400-meter dash with a PR of 56.08. Junior Caroline Schuster also ran her career-best time in the 400, as she finished 49th in 57.28.
Tulsa will complete competition in Fayetteville Saturday.
