Heyes Runs Second-Fastest 3K In School History

Complete Results in PDF FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Tulsa track and field teams completed competition at the Tyson Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Randal Tyson Track Complex. Junior Andrew Heyes finished sixth in the 3,000-Meter Run Championship. His time of 8:00.29 was the second-fastest in school history. The men's 4x400m Relay team also posted the second-best mark in school history with a time of 3:14.83 to finish 10th. The team consisted of seniors Justin Smith and David Fitter, and juniors Julian Frazier and Matt Davis. Sophomore Danny Thater finished 17th in the 800m run with a PR mark of 1:53.76. Junior Ashley Scott led the women's results after she finished second in the 3,000m Run with a mark of 9:59.70. Freshman Emily Dunn placed fifth in the same event with a mark of 10:17.50. Freshman Natasha Cockram finished fourth in the 3,000-Meter Run Championship, and her time of 9:47.63 was fifth-best in school history. Sophomore Josie Wilcox placed sixth in the event in 9:52.69. Junior Done Vermaak placed eighth in the 800m Run Olympic Development, and her mark of 2:09.25 was the fourth-fastest in school history. Sophomore Lauren Collette placed third in the 800m run with a personal-best time of 2:12.91. All three women who competed in the 200m dash posted PR's. Senior Racquell Powell led the charge with a time of 25.21 to finish 44th. Junior Caroline Schuster was 49th in 25.33 and sophomore Audrey Jean-Baptiste was 62nd in 25.82. The Conference USA Championships are next for the Golden Hurricane. The teams will travel to Birmingham, Ala., Feb. 25-26 and will be looking to equal last year's efforts, as both teams finished runner up.
