TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa track and field hosted the annual Tulsa Duels Saturday at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.

The Golden Hurricane men captured three victories, and the women posted one win and three second-place finishes.

Sophomore Danny Thater won the 800m run with a mark of 1:56.87, while fellow sophomore Brian Tabb captured the 1,500m run title in 3:57.03. Tabb was trailing Oklahoma State's Neal Smith in the final 100 meters, but he was able to outkick the Cowboy and win the race.

Freshman Aaron Thornburg was fourth in the 1,500 with a time of 4:02.60.

Tulsa's 4x400m relay team took top honors in 3:16.08. The team consisted of seniors David Fitter and Justin Smith, and juniors Matt Davis and Julian Frazier.

TU's 4x100m relay team was second in 44.14. The team was comprised of one sophomore (Andrew Jameson) and three freshmen (Bryce Cason, Colt Johnson, Ken Muckala).

Tulsa had six men finish in the top 10 of the 3,000. Freshman Tim Rackers paced the Golden Hurricane with his fourth-place finish in 8:39.42. Senior Mitch Johnson was fifth in 8:48.50, and junior Kevin Mayer was seventh in 8:53.69. Freshman Adam Johnson, junior James Keilbarth and sophomore Will LePage rounded out the top 10.

Freshman thrower Chase Sammons recorded the third-best discus and shot put in school history. He finished second in the shot with a throw of 15.55m, and his toss of 49.31m in the discus was good for fifth.

TU's 4x400m relay team won in 3:48.74. The four members were senior Racquell Powell, juniors Caroline Schuster and Done' Vermaak, and sophomore Audrey Jean-Baptiste.

Sophomore Lauren Collette placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:18.56. Freshman Natasha Cockram and junior Sarah Macpherson went 2-3 in the 1,500 with times of 4:39.46 and 4:39.50, respectively.

Sophomore Josie Wilcox was second in the 3,000 with a time of 10:12.81.

Junior Carolin Imhof finished third in both the javelin (36.29m) and long jump (5.56m).

Freshman thrower Hartly Carlisle recorded the third-best discus in school history of 46.90m to finish seventh. She finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 11.86m, which was the fourth-best throw in school history.

The Golden Hurricane returns to action March 31 in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Razorback Invitational.
