WALNUT, Calif. - Tulsa's John Beattie and Alex Becker set a pair of new school records in the 5,000 meters at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., while the rest of the track and field teams posted seven first-place finishes on Saturday at the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Okla.

Beattie finished 21st in the Men's 5,000m Invitational Run with a time of 13:42.03, which tops his previous school record of 13:57.63, set last season. The senior from Southampton, England, was the 8th collegiate finisher in the field of 34 competitors.

Becker posted a time of 15:58.01 in the Women's 5,000m Invitational Run to finish 13th overall and third amongst collegiate competitors. Her time topped her previous school record of 16:00.34, set during the 2007 season.

Paula Whiting and Lewis Timmins also competed in separate 5,000m divisions at the Mt. SAC Relays. Whiting finished third in the Women's 5,000m Olympic Development Run with a personal-best time of 16:03.18, which is also good for fourth place on the school's all-time records list. Timmins competed in the Men's 5,000m Olympic Development Run and placed 22nd in 14:01.69, which is a new personal best and third on the school's all-time chart.

At the John Jacobs Invitational, Lydia Chamberlin won the high jump with a school-record-tying mark of 1.65m (5-05). It is the second consecutive week that Chamberlin has tied the school record originally set by Brianna Steel in 2008.

Jennifer Mace finished first in the 400m with a season-best time of 54.45, while Katie Wright won the 800m with a personal-best time of 2:08.25, which is the fourth-fastest time in school history.

Lana Kelley won the 1,500m with a season-best mark of 4:33.54, and the women's 4x400m `A' relay team captured gold in 3:45.85.

Chris O'Hare finished first in the 1,500m in 3:53.38, followed by teammates Bill Martin in second (3:55.66) and Kyle Dekker in third (3:57.02). Kolton Taylor won the javelin with a toss of 41.29m (135-05).

The Hurricane is back in action next week on April 22-24 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
