Stones Breaks School Record, Runs Nation's Fifth-Fastest Steeple
April 19, 2012 WALNUT, Calif. - Senior Carl Stonesbested his own school record in the 3,000m Steeplechase by nearly seven seconds at the Mt. SAC Relays Thursday night at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. Stones finished fifth in the Olympic Development Elite division in a time of 8:43.79, and his mark broke his own school record (8:50.12) and was the fifth-fastest time recorded in the nation this season. Junior Geraint Daviesalso competed Thursday, and he finished 26th in the 10,000m Run Invitational Elite division with a personal-best mark of 30:28.84. Sophomore Josie Wilcoxran the 10K for the first time in her career, and she finished 15th in the 10,000m Run Olympic Development Elite race in a time of 35:31.59. She recorded the fifth-fastest mark in school history. The final members of the Golden Hurricane will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays April 20 in Walnut, Calif.
