Scott, Wilcox and Pinheiro Net Sixth Place Finishes At Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Dennis Hodapp ran the third fastest time in school history in the men's 10,000-meters, while the Tulsa trio Ashley Scott, Josie Wilcox and Paulo Pinheiro all earned sixth-place finishes at the 104th running of the Drake Relays on Thursday, April 25, at Drake Stadium.
Hodapp clocked a time of 29:55.18 to earn a fifth-place showing in the event. Kevin Mayer finished 27th in 31:20.12.
Scott ran a 5,000-meter time of 16:36.70, which is a new personal record for the senior. That time ranks as the fourth-best time in school history.
Wilcox crossed the line in 45:38.09 in the 10,000-meters, while Janessa Dunn was 11th in 36:09.24.
In the men’s 5,000-meters, senior Paulo Pinheiro claimed sixth place in 14:17.35. Pinheiro led for a majority of the race, but was bested by Drake’s Brogan Austin.
“It was a good day for us,” commented Head Coach Steve Gulley. “We were happy with the results today, we had a few personal records today, and we hope can work off today’s results.”
The rest of the Golden Hurricane will compete at the Arkansas Invitational on Saturday, April 27.
