The men’s Golden Hurricane squad tallied 147 points to finish third, behind UTEP, who won the meet with 166.5 points and Houston, who claimed second with 152.5 points. The TU women finished in 10th with 42 points, while UCF had 167 points to win the team title.

The men’s squad had four runner-ups on the meet’s final day, as freshman Marc Scott was second in the 5,000-meters in 14:32.06. Senior Paulo Pinheiro was fifth in 14:41.30, while junior Andrew Heyes claimed sixth in 14:42.44. Sophomore Tim Rackers finished in seventh in 14:42.56, while junior Dennis Hodapp was eighth in 14:44.22.

In the 1,500-meter run, freshman Adam Palamar had a personal best of 3:45.41 to snare second. Heyes was fourth in 3:47.80, while junior Danny Thater claimed sixth in 3:51.35. Junior Brian Tabb crossed the line in 3:55.12 to finish eighth.

In the 200-meter dash, freshman Bryce Robinson claimed second crossing the line in 21.22, while fellow freshman John Teeters was fourth in 21.46. Robinson and Teeters also finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100-meter dash. Robinson earned a time of 10.48, while Teeters was clocked in 10.54.

The final runner-up showing came in the shot put, as sophomore Chase Sammons had a heave of 58 feet, 2.5 inches to finish second. Freshman Alex Lybarger was seventh with a toss of 49 feet, 8.5 inches.

TU claimed third in the 4x100-meter relay, as senior Matt Davis, Teeters, senior Julian Frazier and Robinson clocked a time of 40.63. The Hurricane also was third in the 4x400-meter relay, as Davis, Frazier, junior Andrew Jameson and freshman Isaac Sanders earned a time of 3:14.48.

“I think we had a great first three days, and we had a solid fourth day, but we needed a great fourth day to win the meet,” commented Head Coach Steve Gulley. “That said, I think we had some outstanding performances today.”

On the women’s side, junior Katherine Camp ran the third-fastest time in school history in the 800-meters to win the event. Camp’s time of 2:06.38 was just .11 off the meet record, and a second off of the school record.

Senior Sarah Macpherson snared third-place in the 1,500-meters in 4:26.21, while fellow senior Melanie Hughes was fifth in 4:30.04.

In the 5,000-meters, senior Erin Huddleston placed fifth crossing the line in 16:41.76, while senior Ashley Scott was seventh in 16:43.97.
