Teeters Sets School Record To Advance To 100-Meter Finals At NCAA West Prelims

Freshman John Teeters shattered the Tulsa school record in the 100-meter dash en route to qualifying for the semifinals during the first day of the NCAA West Prelims at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
Teeters clocked a time of 10.27 with a legal wind of 2.0 meters per second to finish third in his heat. His time was the 13th best time among the 48 competitors.
Tulsa also had Katherine Camp advance to the semifinals of the women's 800-meter, as the junior clocked a time of 2:07.83 to move onto the next round. That time was the 11th fastest overall, and the second fastest in her heat.
In the men's discus, sophomore Chase Sammons barely missed qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., with a 14th-place showing. Sammons threw 181 feet, 3 inches and missed qualifying by less than three feet.
Freshman Adam Palamar finished 25th in the 1,500-meters with a time of 3:49.14. He narrowly missed the cut for the semifinals of the event, as the top 24 runners advanced.
On the women's side, Caroline Schuster was 26th in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 54.25.
Senior Sarah Macpherson clocked a time of 4:29.22 in the 1,500-meters to earn a 30th-place showing.
Teeters will run in the semifinals of the 100-meter dash tomorrow and the prelims of the 200-meter dash, and Camp will compete in the semifinals of the 800-meter run. Sammons will compete in the shot put, and running tomorrow will be Tim Rackers in the 5,000-meters, the Tulsa men's 4x100-meter relay and Erin Huddleston in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
