Tulsa Track Opens Season with Four First Place Finishes at Kansas State All-Comers

Manhattan, Kan. - The University of Tulsa track and field team opened up the indoor season with four first place finishes on Saturday at Kansas State All-Comers meet at the Ahearn Field House in Manhattan, Kan. Junior Jennifer Mace captured first place in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:22.30, which is the third-fastest time in school history. Sophomore Racquell Powell placed seventh in the event with a mark of 1:30.25. Freshman Lenora Guion-Firmin took home first place in the 300-meter dash with a top time of 40.75, while senior Jessica Ford finished second in 41.40. Junior Brianna Steel came in eighth in 43.67. The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Racquell Powell, Jessica Ford, Lenora Guion-Firmin and Jennifer Mace placed first with a time of 3:52.93, finishing nearly 1.5 second ahead of second place Kansas State. Senior Caitlin Clancy finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.25 meters (10-08), and Brianna Steel tied for third in the high jump with a leap of 1.65m (5-05). Senior Tayler Rigsby placed third in the 1,000m with a time 2:57.17 to round out the top performances for the women's squad.
Freshman Julian Frazier was the men's team only first-place finisher, taking home the top spot in the 300-meter dash with a time of 34.72. Sophomore David Fitter placed fourth in 35.62. Senior Steven Morrow finished third in the 1,000m with a time of 2:30.39. The Golden Hurricane will take over a month off before returning to action on January 22nd at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. |
