Claassen named Sportswoman of the Year in Emmeloord, Netherlands

EMMELOORD, Netherlands - Roos-Sanne Claassen, a freshman on the University of Tulsa track and field team, was named the Sportswoman of the Year in her hometown of Emmeloord, The Netherlands.
Claassen finished eighth in her second collegiate track and field meet with a time of 8.10 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday.
In her first collegiate track and field meet of her career, Claassen finished 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.20 at the Arkansas Invitational on Jan. 10.
Prior to Tulsa, Claassen won the outdoor 400-meter hurdles in 2010, 2012 and 2013 of the Dutch Youth National Championships and finished third in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles in 2009 and third in the indoor 400-meter hurdles at the DYNC.
Claassen also won the indoor 400-meter hurdles at the DYNC in 2013 and finished second in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles in 2001 and second in the indoor 400-meters in 2011.
The Golden Hurricane takes a weekend off before heading to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Razorback Invite from Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
