Tulsa Men's Track Checks In At 20th In USTFCCCA Rakings
Feb. 19, 2013
NEW ORLEANS - For the first time in program history, the Tulsa men's track and field team is ranked in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I National Team Computer Rankings, the association announced today.
Tulsa checks in at No. 20 in this week's poll, and moved up 20 spots from last week's computer rankings. The Hurricane's jump was the second largest in this weeks rankings, trailing Northern Arizona, who moved up from 46th to 23rd.
TU has top-10 times in three different events, as senior Chris O'Hare has the nations fastest time in the mile (3:52.98) and the ninth-fastest time in the 800-meters (1:48.28). Freshman Bryce Robinson holds the third-fastest time in the 60-meter dash (6.61). The Hurricane tabulated 42.32 points.
The National Computer Team Rankings projects how a team will finish in a National Championship Meet setting, rather than a triangular or dual. The rankings are compiled from meet data in the 2012-13 season.
The next round of computer rankings will be released on February 26. The 2013 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., March 8-9.
The Golden Hurricane will compete at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship on Feb. 23-24 in Birmingham, Ala.
