Track and Field Hosts the Tulsa Duels to Begin Outdoor Season This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa track and field team opens the outdoor season hosting the Tulsa Duels on Saturday at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
The meet starts with the hammer throw at Oklahoma State on Friday at 7 p.m. and the javelin throw at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium at 7 p.m. on Friday. Field events start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, while running events start at 1 p.m.
Tulsa is one of 11 teams competing this weekend as UMKC, Oral Roberts, Oklahoma State, South Dakota, Nebraska Omaha, Missouri State, Northwester Missouri State, Southern Nazarene, Southwest Christian and Langston are the 10 other teams.
On the men's side, sophomore Alex Lybarger is competing in three events of the hammer throw, the discus throw and the shot put, while junior Colt Johnson is competing in four events of the discus throw, long jump, shot put and the 100-meter hurdles.
Lybarger's personal bests in the shot put is 15.15 meters, the hammer throw of 48.30 meters and the discus is 42.51 meters, while Johnson's personal bests in the discus throw is 26.50 meters, the long jump 6.62 meters, the shot put of 8.74 meters and the 100-meter hurdles of 11.40 seconds.
Freshman Paul Akintade is competing in the long jump, while freshman Austin Hostetler is competing in the high jump. Akintade and Hostetler are competing in the outdoor season for the first time in their collegiate careers.
Senior Emmett Cookson, freshman Nick Criser and junior Danny Thater start the running events for Tulsa with the 2,000-meter steeplechase, while senior Brian Tabb and freshman Adam Roderique compete in the 1,500-meter run.
Cookson's personal best in the 2,000-meter steeplechase is 6:08.98, while Thater and Criser are competing in the event for the first time. Tabb's personal best in the 1,500-meter run is 3:57.03, while Roderique is running in the event in the outdoor season for the first time in his collegiate career.
Sanders, 400-meter dash, and Ananaba, 100-meter dash, are competing in their events for the first time in the outdoor season.
Thornburg's personal best in the 800-meter run is 1:55.67, while Silva is running in the event for the first time in the outdoor season. Robinson's personal best in the 200-meter dash is 21.22 seconds, while Jameson's personal best is 21.93 seconds and Akintade runs in the event for the first time in the outdoor season.
Freshman Kirk Smith is competing in the 3,000-meter run for the first time in the outdoor season, while the Golden Hurricane has two teams running in the 4x400-meter relay.
On the women's' side, freshman Elizabeth Lothamer is competing in four events of the long jump, high jump, shot put and the 200-meter dash, while freshman Clara Langley is competing in the 1,500-meter run.
Lothamer is competing in each event for the first time in the outdoor season and Langley is competing in the 1,500-meter run for the first time in the outdoor season.
Cockram and Taylor are competing for the first time in the outdoor 2,000-meter steeplechase, while Camp's best time in the outdoor 400-meter run is 57.13 meters.
The Golden Hurricane has three runners in the 800-meter run and five runners in the 200-meter run. Sophomore Olivia O'Hare, senior Audrey Jean-Baptiste and freshman Katie Killeen are competing in the 800-meter run, while freshman Cydney Fogle, freshman Roos-Sanne Claassen, Lyons, freshman Lauren Thomas and Lothamer are competing in the 200-meter dash.
O' Hare, Jean-Baptiste and Killeen are competing in the outdoor 800-meter run for the first team, while Fogle, Claassen, Thomas and Lothamer are also competing for the first time in the outdoor 200-meter run.
Claassen and Cox are competing for the first time in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles, while Wilcox's personal best in the 3,000-meter run is 10:11.75 and Cockram's personal best is 10:04.51 and Lopez is competing for the first time in the outdoor event.
The Hurricane has two teams running in the 4x400-meter relay. Tulsa A squad consists of Camp, Claassen, Cox and Lothamer, while Tulsa B squad consists of Lopez, Lyons, Thomas and Jean-Baptiste.
The Golden Hurricane continues its outdoor season traveling to Austin, Texas for the Texas Relays from Thursday, March 27 - Saturday, March 29.
