Today's "Hurricane Spotlight" features Tulsa track and field thrower Chase Sammons. This special feature of "Hurricane Spotlight" will run throughout the academic year.

Sammons, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., won the Conference USA Championship in the discus with a mark of 51.06m last May. Sammons holds school records in the discus, outdoor shot put, indoor weight throw and indoor shot put. Sammons also competed last year at the NCAA Outdoor Regional, and looks to repeat that feat later this year.

Sammons, who is coming off of winning the shot put and discus at the Tulsa Duels earlier this month, will compete this weekend at the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, March 30.
