IRVING, Texas - All-American Chris O'Hare was named the Conference USA Outdoor Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced today.

The junior member of the Tulsa track and field team posted the second-fastest collegiate time of 3:37.95 in the 1,500 meters at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational April 29 in Palo Alto, Calif.

He finished ninth in a field of 36 runners that included Olympians and other elite runners. His time broke his own school record by more than four seconds (3:42.54), and he was the second fastest collegiate runner in the event. His time was also an Olympic `B' Standard.

This was his third career C-USA outdoor track athlete of the week laurel and fifth overall (two indoor). This also marked the third time this season that a member of the Golden Hurricane picked up the weekly outdoor honor. Seniors Paulo Pinheiro (April 3) and Carl Stones (April 24) also won the award.

The three honors this season are the most by any team in Conference USA. Tulsa also has hauled in six weekly outdoor honors in the last two years, which is twice as many as the next closest team (UTEP, 3).

The Golden Hurricane will compete in the Arkansas Twilight May 4 in Fayetteville, Ark.
