INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Tulsa track and field teams had 11 individuals earn spots in the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary, which will be held May 23-25 in Austin, Texas at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.

The top 48 times in each individual event and top 24 times in relay events were selected from each region to compete. All competitors will be looking to qualify for the 2013 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships June 5-8 at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The freshman duo of Bryce Robinson and John Teeters both qualified for the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Robinson, an All-American in the indoor 60-meter dash, enters the 100-meter dash with the regions 23rd fastest time in 10.43, while Teeters has a season-best mark of 10.51, which ranks 38th

In the 200, Robinson's time of 21.22 is the 33rd best mark in the region, while Teeters holds the 44th-best time of 21.33.

Fellow freshman Adam Palamar made the field for the 1,500-meters, as the Conference USA 1,500-meter runner-up clocked a time of 3:45.41 to secure the region's 34th best time.

Sophomore Tim Rackers secured one of the final spots in the men's 5,000-meters with a season-best time of 14:12.61 set at the Mt. Sac Relays. He enters the prelims with the 47th best time.

The men's 4x100-meter relay squad of senior Matt Davis, Teeters, junior Julian Frazier and Robinson made the field of 24 relay squads with a school record time of 40.38. This marks the first time that the TU men has had a relay team qualify for the preliminary rounds.

Sophomore Chase Sammons qualified in the shot put and the discus. Sammons, the 2013 Conference USA outdoor champion in the shot put, threw a school-record throw of 59 feet, 0.25 inches (17.99m) to earn the 21st best mark in the region. In the discus, Sammons enters the field with the 24th best throw of 183 feet, 0.25 inches (55.78m).

On the women's side, Katherine Camp will compete in her first career preliminary round as the junior won the 800-meters at the C-USA Championships with a time of 2:06.38, which ranks 13th in the west region.

Erin Huddleston also makes her first preliminary appearance as the senior won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the C-USA Championships with a school-record time of 10:25.89, which is the 27th best time in the region.

In the 1,500 meters, Sarah Macpherson qualified with the 44th best time in the West of 4:26.21. Macpherson also advanced to the preliminary round last year in the 1,500.

Caroline Schuster will run in the 400-meter dash, as the senior makes her third-career appearance at the preliminary rounds after running on TU's 4x400-meter relay in 2010 and 2011. She has a season best time of 54.29, which is the 44th best time in the region.
