Tulsa Track & Field Sends 13 Athletes to NCAA Preliminaries
May 21, 2010 TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa track and field teams had 13 athletes selected to compete in 10 events at the NCAA West Region Preliminary Rounds on May 27-29 at The University of Texas, it was announced today by the NCAA. The NCAA changed the NCAA National Championships qualifying format this season from multiple regional sites around the country to two preliminary round sites located in Greensboro, N.C., and Austin, Texas. The top 48 times in each individual event and top 24 times in relay events were selected from each region to compete. The men's team will send five athletes to run in four events with Justin Duncan and Chris O'Hare competing in the 1,500m, Carl Stones in the 3,000m steeplechase, Lewis Timmins in the 5,000m and John Beattie in the 10,000m. The women's team has eight athletes competing in six events with Jennifer Mace running in the 400m, Tayler Rigsby in the 800m, Katie Wright in the 1,500m, Paula Whiting in the 5,000m and Carolin Imhof in the javelin. The women's 4x400m relay team of Mace, Caroline Schuster, Ashley Wills and Lenora Guion-Firmin will also participate.
