TULSA TRACK TEAMS EARN USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM RECOGNITION

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa men's and women's track & field teams were named Division I All-Academic Track teams for the 2011-12 season, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Tulsa men had the third-best cumulative grade point average in the nation for a track & field team with a team GPA of 3.45 and was one of only 85 schools to earn the national academic team recognition. Duke and Stanford were the only schools with a better grade point average than the Hurricane. The TU women's team was one of 171 institutions that earned the honor as a result of a cumulative 3.20 grade point average or better. The Hurricane women finished with an overall team GPA of 3.43. Last week, junior Chris O'Hare was named the Division I Indoor Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2012 men's track & field seasons. Along with O'Hare, six other members of the TU track team were named to the 2012 Division I All-Academic Track & Field team, including Julian Frazier, Andrew Heyes, Bill Martin, Sam Masters, Paul Pinheiro and Carl Stones.
