Moscow, Russia - The University of Tulsa track athlete Chris O' Hare qualified for the semifinal round of the 1,500-meter race at the 14th IAAF World Championships on Wednesday morning.

O'Hare ran the eighth out of 13 runners in his heat with a time of 3:38.86.

To qualify for the semifinals, runners needed to be in the top six in their heat or be in the next six fastest overall. O'Hare had the second fastest time among the next six runners.

O'Hare had the fastest 1,200-meter split time of 2:57.37 in the third heat.

O'Hare returns to the track at 10:05 a.m. (CT) Friday.

For O'Hare to qualify for the finals, he would need to be in the top five of the first heat or have one of the two next fastest overall times.
