Women's Cross Country Wins Missouri Southern Stampede Saturday

JOPLIN, Mo. - Sophomore Rachel Baptista finished first among Division I runners with a 5K time of 17:02.13 to lead the Tulsa women's cross country team to a victory over Oklahoma at the Missouri Southern Stampede Saturday at the MSSU Cross Country Course.
The Golden Hurricane swept the scoring over the Sooners, earning 15 team points to OU's 47 points. Freshman Stacie Taylor placed behind Baptista with a time of 17:31.15, junior Brandi Krieg ran a 17:37.74, senior Katherine Camp finished the 5K in 17:39.43, and freshman Clara Langley rounded out the TU scoring with a time of 17:39.58.
Junior Brian Tabb was the top finisher for the Tulsa men, running the 8K race in an eighth-place time of 25:38.42. Junior Emmett Cookson followed with a 10th-place 25:43.34, freshman Simon Greiner ran a 24:44.19, sophomore Jake McDonnell ran a 26:01.50, and freshman Dallas Elmore rounded out the TU scoring with a time of 27:13.88.
The Hurricane men totaled 58 points to place third in the Division I 8K race, behind Oklahoma's 31 points and Arkansas' 32 points.
The Golden Hurricane women's team returns to action at the Oklahoma State Jamboree on Sept. 28, while the men's team returns to action Oct. 4 at the Notre Dame Invitational.
