Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams End Season at Midwest Region

Normal, Ill. - Both of men's and women's cross country teams for The University of Tulsa concluded the season at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Illinois State in Normal, Ill. The TU women finished 14th out of the 23-team field. The TU men finished 15th out of the 24-team field.
Sophomore Natalie Rasmussen led the women's squad with a 40th place finish in a time of 21:51.17 over the 6,000-meter course. Senior Sarah Haskins posted a 45th place finish in a time of 21:56.57, while junior Monica Joannes finished 70th in a time of 22:26.62. Freshmen Lacy Leifeste and Erin Deasy finished 83rd and 97th with times of 22:38.85 and 22:59.55, respectively. Sophomores Melanie Hardy and freshman Megan Langwell closed out the TU placeings with 132th and 137th place finishes and times of 23:44.47 and 23:47.51. One hundred sixty-two runners participated in the men's field.
On the men's side, senior Andy Norman placed 29th with a time of 30:51.51 over the 10,000-meter course to lead all TU runners. Junior Ben Orozco was the second Hurricane across the line, with a time of 31:13.51 for 50th. Senior Jared Christianson outdistanced junior Owain Matthews by a second to finish 83rd with a time of 32:06.54. Matthews finished 85th with a time of 32:07.59. Freshman Taylor Williams closed out the TU runners with a 126th place in a time of 33:03.96. One hundred sixty-three runners participated in the men's field.
