Tulsa's Alex Becker is an All-American after Finishing 15th at the NCAAs

Becker becomes Tulsa's first Cross Country All-American

Nov. 19, 2007

Notes

Terre Haute, Ind. - The University of Tulsa's women's cross country runner, Alex Becker finished 15th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships bettering her previous NCAA finish of 34th place from a year ago. In the process, Becker became the TU's first All-American in Cross Country. Becker finished the 6K race at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in a time of 20:35, just short of her personal-best time earlier this season of 20:06.

Becker, a junior from Guelph, Ontario, Canada, is only the second Tulsa woman to qualify for the NCAA Championships twice, along with Fride Vullum, who finished 61st in 1998 and 95th in 1999.

It has been a year of firsts for Tulsa's women's cross country team: first All-American and first conference champion, along with the best finish in school history at regionals.
