Three TU Men's Cross Country Student-Athletes Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Honorees

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams were named U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team selections, while three men's cross country athletes were named as USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic honorees.
The Golden Hurricane men's cross country team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.57, which tied for the sixth highest GPA among Division I teams, while the women's team posted a 3.23 GPA.
Senior Andrew Heyes, sophomore Marc Scott and junior Daniel Thater are the three individuals that were honored. Heyes has posted a 3.66 GPA in business administration as he is working on his master's degree, while Scott has recorded a 3.30 GPA in exercise and sports science and Thater has posted a 3.32 GPA in English.
This past cross country season, Scott finished fifth in the 10k race at the NCAA Midwest Regional with a time of 30:34.9. Heyes finished sixth in a time of 30:35.6 and Thater finished in 16th place with a time of 30:50.5 to help the Golden Hurricane reach the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
