O'Hare Named C-USA Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa junior Chris O'Hare was named Conference USA Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week after winning the Notre Dame Invitational in 23:33 over the weekend, the league office announced Tuesday. O'Hare's first-place finish led the Golden Hurricane to the team title at Notre Dame. The team victory propelled the Hurricane into the top-10 of the national rankings for the first time in program history. Tulsa jumped 11 spots up to No. 9 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll on Tuesday. In winning the Notre Dame Invitational, the Golden Hurricane defeated nine other ranked teams, including four ranked higher than TU at the time. This is the first C-USA weekly award of the season for O'Hare, and his second career honor. The Golden Hurricane is back in action Oct. 13 at the Pre-Nationals Cross Country Meet in Louisville, Ky.
