Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa cross country teams travel to Indiana State University to take part in the Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Terre Haute, Ind. The women's team will race in the 6K "White Race" at 11:35 a.m., and the men's team will run in the 8K "White Race" at 12:50 p.m.

The men's squad is currently ranked 19th in the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Men's National poll, after finishing second in the large and talented field at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 3. This weekend, the men's team will join another competitive field that features 40 teams, including 11 nationally-ranked squads.

The women's team is looking to improve on their 13th-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational, by facing another talented field of 42 squads, including 10 nationally-ranked teams.

"I think running at Notre Dame really helped us prepare for the Pre-Nationals," Head Coach Steve Gulley said. "We had chance to correct our mistakes, and we have been able to stay healthy. The kids are excited and they always look forward to running in this race."

Last year, the men finished sixth and the women finished 16th at the Pre-Nationals. Eddie Henshaw led the men's team with a 10th-place finish in the 8K race, and Alex Becker paced the women's team with a seventh-place finish in the 6K course.

"We hope to improve on our finishes from last year, " Gulley said. "I think the men can finish better than sixth and I think our women's team is better than 16th, but it is hard to place definite number because the field is so big. We need to just get out there and race."

The Hurricane will run next at the Conference USA Championships on Nov. 1 in Memphis, Tenn.
