Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's Alex Becker and Jay Matlack were named to the 2007 Conference USA Cross Country All-Academic Team as announced today by the league office. The teams consist of five men and five women that have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and competed in more than half of the scheduled meets.

Matlack, a senior and native of Shawnee, Kan, was a TU Outstanding Senior, Homecoming King and is the current president of the University Ambassadors, while maintaining a 3.66 GPA in marketing. He also earned a spot on the All-Conference USA third team with his 14th-place finish at the conference meet.

The Golden Hurricane was also represented by the C-USA Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year, Alex Becker. The Guleph, Ontario, Canada, native highlights a women's academic team in which all five selections sport a 3.60 GPA or better. Becker, who won the C-USA individual title along with All-America honors, maintains a 3.75 GPA as an elementary education major. She has also been named Tulsa Student-Athlete of the Week twice this season.
