Golden Hurricane Club Kicks Off 2014-15 Membership Drive

Jan. 30, 2014

In early February, The University of Tulsa's Golden Hurricane Club will officially kick off the 2014-15 Membership Drive as renewal packets are sent to more than 1,300 active members. As the primary fundraising arm of Tulsa Athletics, the Golden Hurricane Club strives to help provide every TU student-athlete with the opportunity to realize a world-class athletic and academic experience.

Last year, Golden Hurricane Club members accounted for more than $2.4 million in support of TU Athletics. Annual gifts to the Golden Hurricane Club, which start at just $50, are designated for scholarships, equipment, uniforms, game travel, academic support, and enrichment activities that directly benefit all TU student-athletes. This year's drive represents the beginning of a new and exciting era of Golden Hurricane Athletics, as TU officially joins the American Athletic Conference on July 1.

"The loyal support from all Golden Hurricane Club members continues to provide our student-athletes and coaches with the necessary resources to remain competitive on a national stage," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg. "When we enter the American Athletic Conference later this year, the financial support we receive from the TU family will become even more critical as we look to build upon our recent athletic and academic accomplishments."

Hard copy membership renewal packets will be mailed beginning in February; however, current members have an opportunity to get a jump-start by easily renewing their membership online. This online option is designed to provide Golden Hurricane Club members with greater flexibility in setting up a convenient payment schedule that best works for them. To be eligible for 2014-15 Golden Hurricane Club member benefits, including parking passes and priority seating for men's basketball, pledges must be received in full by June 30, 2014. Current and prospective members also have an opportunity to make an additional impact with their gift by joining the 110% Club during the 2014-15 campaign. Any Golden Hurricane Club member who increases their annual contribution by at least 10 percent from the previous year, or any new member who contributes a minimum of $110, is eligible for membership in the 110% Club. Established six years ago, the 110% Club has been responsible for more than $1.4 million in additional annual support to all TU student-athletes.
