Basketball coaches clinic to take place Oct. 26-27
Justin Bauman was named to The University of Tulsa basketball coaching staff in April 2012.
Bauman came to Tulsa following four seasons (2008-12) at The University of San Francisco, where he coached under Rex Walters. He spent the final two seasons as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator and served as director of basketball operations in his first two years at USF.
In his two years as a full-time assistant coach, the Dons posted a 39-29 record. San Francisco posted an impressive overall 20-14 record during the 2011-12 season, marking the first 20-win season for the Dons in 30 years. San Francisco made back-to-back post-season appearances in the College Invitational Tournament (2010-2011) and the College Basketball Invitational (2011-2012). Bauman recruited three players in the Don's 2012 signing class at San Francisco -- two from Oklahoma, and the Arizona state player of the year.
Prior to USF, Bauman began his career at Florida Atlantic University as the Director of Basketball Operations for Walters. FAU set the school record for most conference wins in a season and ticket sales more then tripled while Bauman was at FAU.
An alumnus of The University of Kansas, Bauman spent six years with the Kansas basketball program. During three of those years he served as manager on Roy Williams' staff and the other three years as head manager/student assistant coach on Bill Self's staff. Bauman assisted with on-campus recruiting, practices, scouting reports, team travel, camps, along with overseeing the student support staff and all aspects of the apparel and equipment.
While at Kansas, Bauman was part of four Big 12 regular season championships, one postseason Big 12 championship, two Final Fours and six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. During his tenures at Kansas, Florida Atlantic and San Francisco, Bauman has worked with 32 players that have gone on to play professional basketball.
Bauman played collegiate basketball for one season at Lincoln (IL) College. Lincoln posted a 26-7 record, was the Region 24 Champion and Bauman was part of the Region 24 All-Academic Team.
A native of Canton, IL, Bauman graduated from Kansas with a bachelor's degree in sports management and fitness in 2004 and a master's degree in sports studies in 2006.
He and his wife, Stacy, reside in Tulsa.
