Ed Conroy is in his first season as Director of Basketball Operations at The University of Tulsa. He came to Tulsa following three years as the head basketball coach at Francis Marion University.
Conroy, 33, posted a 41-40 record in his three seasons as the head coach at Francis Marion. In his first season, Conroy led his team to a 16-11 record, which was the best-ever mark for a first-year head coach at the school. He guided that first team to the biggest turnaround in NCAA Divisions I and II that year, an improvement of 13 wins.
Chosen to finish in last place in the conference that year, Conroy's team finished in second-place. He was selected as the Peach Belt Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1998.
Before that, Conroy spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Furman (1994-97). He spent one year on the coaching staff at Virginia Military Institute (1993-94), and before that was an assistant coach at North Carolina State for three seasons (1990-93).
Conroy earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from The Citadel in 1989. He was a three-year starter at The Citadel and was team captain as a senior. Conroy attained the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Corps of Cadets, the highest rank ever achieved by a basketball player at The Citadel.
He and his wife, Ginny, have two sons: Riley and Hunt.
